Thriving Communities

What makes a community thrive is the hard work ethic and the resillience of the people in it. Many established working class communities are considered to be “thriving communities”. Unfortunately, most of them are also the lower income, underserved areas that are very close to being just a memory.

What makes a community flourish is the hard work ethic and the resilience of the people who make up the population. They have adopted self sufficiency, the practice of buying local and supporting, local minority-owned businesses, building their own financial institutions and schools, and they place emphasis on the importance of creating generational wealth.

In order for our communities to flourish , we must support our own, buy within our own, and create our own. Please read on to learn about the Department of Transportation’s Thriving Communities Program and their plan to bridge this divide.
